Got Green Beans?

I have been so hungry for fresh green beans!  I finally bought some.  I didn’t want to go across town to Meijer, but I price-matched their $0.77/pound at Walmart. (You should do the same!)

I hadn’t made fresh green beans in a long time, so I wasn’t sure how I should season them.  I really like the green beans I’ve had at Chinese buffets.  I decided to improvise, and I was very pleased with the end result.

Crispy Green Beans

I washed and prepared a couple handfuls of beans, just enough for two people, and placed them in a small skillet.

I added:

– About 2 tablespoons of olive oil

– About 2 tablespoons water

– Salt (to taste!)

– Granulated garlic (About 1/4 teaspoon)

– 1/4 cup chopped onion

I cooked on high with the lid on for about 10 minutes – but just until “crisp-tender.”

I served these beans as a side for tuna patties and mashed potatoes. (More on those later!)

This was a delicious, quick, and healthy lunch!
